INDICATIONS Treatment of gastrointestinal infestations of equines caused by strongyles (eg Strongylus vulgaris, Strongylus equinus, Strongylus edentatus).
CONTRAINDICATIONS / SECONDARY EFFECT The use of pyrantel is not recommended in severely debilitated animals. Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.

USE / ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION Oral.
DOSAGE Administer 25 g of granules per 250 kg of equine weight (10 grams per 100 kg of weight) in a single administration.
STORAGE Keep the container tightly closed in order to protect from light and humidity. Shelf life after first opening the primary packaging (multidose can): 180 days.
WARNINGS Treatment should be based on the results of the parasitological examination on the stool. Parasitic resistance to any particular class of anthelmintics may develop after frequent and repeated use. Special precautions for the person administering the product to animals: avoid contact with skin, eyes or mouth. Wear gloves to administer the product. In case of accidental contact, wash your hands thoroughly. Do not eat, drink or smoke during application. In case of ingestion, spilling on the skin, consult a doctor immediately. People with known hypersensitivity to pyrantel pamoate should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product and administer the product with caution. Overdose: administration of the drug up to 3 times the authorized therapeutic dose was well tolerated. At higher doses, the symptoms due to overdose consist of marked tachypnea, profuse sweating, drooling, motor ataxia. Emergency procedures consist of administering acetylcholine antagonist drugs.

INTERACTIONS In particularly debilitated subjects, the concomitant association of other cholinergic drugs such as levamisole can generate an enhancement of the toxicity of pyrantel. Do not use simultaneously with piperazine, as the anthelmintic effects of pyrantel can be counteracted by piperazine.

SIDE EFFECTS The most frequently observed side effects are correlated with the gastrointestinal system in particular: anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea. In severely debilitated subjects the nicotinic effects of pyrantel are more pronounced. Digestive bleeding (diarrhea, bloody stools) can result from treatment with anthelmintics in case of heavy infestations. The active ingredient is not known to cause particular adverse effects in young animals.
PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING It can be used during all stages of pregnancy and lactation.
