PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC CATEGORY
Expectorants, excluding associations with antitussives.

ACTIVE PRINCIPLES
Ambroxol hydrochloride.

EXCIPIENTS
Granules for oral solution: orange flavor powder, pineapple flavor powder, sucrose. Syrup: sorbitol, glycerol, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, raspberry essence, glycyrized ammonium, purified water. Solution to be sprayed: benzalkonium chloride, purified water. Single-dose nebuliser solution: sodium chloride, purified water. Sterile solution to be nebulized: sterile water.

INDICATIONS
Treatment of disorders of the secretion of the respiratory system.

CONTRAINDICATIONS / SECONDARY EFFECT
The drug is contraindicated in children younger than 2 years (for oral use); ascertained hypersensitivity to product components or strictly correlated substances from a chemical point of view; severe liver and / or kidney changes; generally contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation. Each sachet of granules for oral solution contains about 4 g of sucrose: therefore, the sachets are contraindicated in hereditary fructose intolerance, in glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, in sucrase-isomaltase deficiency. The syrup contains about 70 g of sorbitol; when the product is taken in the recommended doses, each dose provides about 1 g to 3.5 g of sorbitol :: the syrup is therefore contraindicated in hereditary fructose intolerance.

DOSAGE
>> Granules for oral solution 60 mg (20 sachets of 60 mg). Adults: 2 sachets of 60 mg per day for the first 3 days (attack therapy). Subsequently the dosage can be reduced to 1 sachet per day. The sachets should be dissolved in water and taken preferably after meals. >> Syrup 15mg / 5ml (200ml bottle). Children: from 2 to 5 years: 2.5 ml 3 times a day; from 5 to 12 years: 5 ml 2-3 times a day; over 12 years: 10 ml 2-3 times a day for the first 3 days, then 5 ml 3 times a day. Adults: 10 ml 3 times a day for the first 3 days, then 10 ml 2 times a day. The syrup should preferably be taken after meals. >> Nebuliser solution 15 mg / 2 ml (bottle of 100 ml) - nebuliser solution 30 mg / 4ml (20 single-dose containers of 4 ml) - sterile nebulizer solution 15 mg / 2 ml (6 vials of 2 ml). Children younger 'less than 5 years: 1-2 inhalations per day with 2 ml of solution for inhalations. Adults and children over 5 years of age: 1-2 inhalations per day with 3 ml solution for inhalations. Inhalations can be supplemented, in the opinion of the physician, by the enteral administration of the other medicinal forms. The product can be administered with all modern inhalation devices. Distilled water can be added to the inhalant solution in a 1: 1 ratio to obtain an optimal humidification of the respiratory area.

STORAGE
No special storage precautions are required.

WARNINGS
The medicinal product should be administered with caution to patients with peptic ulcer. Mucolytics can induce bronchial obstruction in children younger 'less than 2 years. In fact, the drainage capacity of the bronchial mucus is limited in this age group, due to the physiological characteristics of the respiratory tract. They should therefore not be used in children younger 'less than 2 years. Solution to nebulize, sterile solution to nebulize: since cough from irritation may arise in too deep inhalation of aerosols, one must try to inhale and exhale normally. In particularly sensitive patients, a preheating of the solution to be inhaled at body temperature can be recommended. For patients suffering from bronchial asthma it is advisable to resort to a bronchial spasmolytic before inhalation. Granules for oral solution: the sachets contain sucrose. Syrup: the syrup contains sorbitol which can cause gastric disturbances and diarrhea; it contains glycerol which can be dangerous in high doses: it can cause migraines, gastric disturbances and diarrhea; it also contains p-hydroxybenzoates which can cause urticaria and, generally, delayed reactions such as contact dermatitis; more rarely immediate reactions with urticaria and bronchospasm occur.

INTERACTIONS
It generally does not interfere with other medications.

SIDE EFFECTS
The product has excellent clinical tolerability and is practically free of side effects. In some cases, mild gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, diarrhea) and bronchial obstruction (frequency unknown) have been observed.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING
Studies of teratogenesis and fetal toxicity on animals have not shown any harmful effects of the drug even at high doses. However, as with all recently created drugs, it is not advisable to use it during the first three months of pregnancy and, in the further period of pregnancy and during breastfeeding, it will only be administered in case of actual need.
