Check the concentration of ferritin in the blood to check the level of iron reserves. Iron control is recommended for all people with a healthy lifestyle and for all pregnant women. Ferritin is a protein that allows the accumulation and storage of iron present in cells. It constitutes a reserve of iron, which it accumulates and releases according to the needs of the organism. So controlling the Ferritin level means controlling the body's iron reserves. In fact, the first indicator of an iron deficiency is precisely the measure of stocks whose concentration will be reduced to very low levels. As iron deficiency increases, supplies are depleted before anemia sets in. Checking the normality of iron stocks is an excellent tool for checking iron deficiency anemia and possibly taking the necessary preventive actions.
How to use 1. OPEN Open the foil pouch and take only the lancing device and pipette. Throw away the desiccant bag. Press the small orange wand into the lancing device until you hear a click indicating that the lancing device has activated. NB: Be careful not to press the trigger otherwise the needle may come out prematurely. 2. HAND Remove the orange wand by turning it either to the right or to the left. Clean the tip of the index finger or middle finger with a swab dipped in disinfectant alcohol. Massage the fingertip to increase blood flow. 3. PUNCTURE Press the tip of the lancing device firmly against the part of the finger that has been cleaned with the disinfectant, in order to achieve good contact. Pull the trigger. The tip automatically retracts safely after use. 4. BLOOD Keeping the hand pointing downwards, massage the fingertip until a large drop of blood forms. 5. PIPETTE Take the pipette without pressing the bulb, and put it in contact with the drop of blood. The blood will enter the pipette by capillarity up to the line indicated on the pipette itself. If necessary, massage the finger again to get more blood if the line on the pipette has not yet been reached, avoid air bubbles as much as possible. 6. TEST Put the blood collected with the pipette into the well indicated on the device, pressing the bulb of the pipette. 7. WAIT Wait until the blood is completely in the well and add, with the dropper vial, 5 drops of diluent into the well. Read the test result after exactly 10 minutes. Do not read after 15 minutes. The intensity of the color of the line has no importance for the interpretation of the test result. 8. POSITIVE RESULT Only a colored line appears under the C (Control) mark. This result means that the Ferritin value is lower than normal and therefore it is necessary to consult a doctor. 9. NEGATIVE RESULT Two colored lines appear in the reading window at the T (Test) and C (Control) signs. The intensity of the T line may be lighter than the C line. This result means that the Ferritin level is normal.
