Nasomixin CM 2.5 mg/ml Phenylephrine Decongestant Nasal Drops 15 ml

Decongestant solution in nasal drops based on phenylephrine.

Therapeutic indications

Nasomixin cm is a decongestant medicine which is used to clear the blocked nose by local application. The active ingredient phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic that reduces mucosal congestion and improves symptoms of nasal obstruction.

Dosage and posology

Administer 1-2 drops in each nostril. If necessary, repeat up to 3-4 times a day. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

How long If there is no complete response within a few days consult your doctor. In any case, the treatment should not be continued for more than 5 days. The drops should be instilled into each nostril with the head tilted sideways and low.

Overdose

The product, if accidentally ingested or if used in excessive doses, can cause toxic phenomena. In case of overdose, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, photophobia, intense headache, chest tightness and, particularly in children, hypothermia and severe depression of the central nervous system with marked sedation (somnolence) may appear, which require the adoption of adequate measures urgency. Therefore, in case of accidental ingestion of an excessive dose of NAasomixin cm, notify your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital.

Contraindications

Nasomixin cm should not be used in the following cases:

• if you are hypersensitive to phenylephrine or to any of the excipients;
• if you have heart disease or severe high blood pressure;
• if you suffer from severe hyperthyroidism;
• if you have acute angle glaucoma;
• if you are using or have used monoamine oxidase inhibitors (so-called MAOIs) within the previous two weeks;
• The drug can not be taken by children under the age of 12.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Nasomixin cm can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Like other nasal decongestants, Nasomixin cm, especially if used for longer than 5 days, can cause transient local irritation. The decongestant action can be followed by vasodilation or "rebound" congestion. The use of high doses or for prolonged periods (beyond the recommended limit) can result in excessive systemic absorption of the drug with the possible appearance of stimulating effects of the cardiovascular system (arterial hypertension followed by "rebound" hypotension, sweating, bradycardia, pallor) and central nervous system stimulation (headache, insomnia, tremors, dizziness, restlessness). These side effects are usually transient. Compliance with the instructions contained in the package leaflet reduces the risk of undesirable effects. Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy, the medicine should be used with caution and only after consulting your doctor. The medicine should be used with caution during breastfeeding as it cannot be excluded that the medicine passes into breast milk. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Special warnings

Like other sympathomimetic drugs, Nasomixin cm should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, heart disease including arrhythmias, thyroid disease, diabetes mellitus, glaucoma and prostatic hypertrophy. In these cases, the use of nasal decongestants must be subjected to the judgment of the doctor from time to time. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the recommended doses, as with the use of nasal decongestants it is frequent the appearance of "rebound" congestion, which can lead to excessive use of the product.

The prolonged use of vasoconstrictors can alter the normal function of the mucous membrane of the nose and paranasal sinuses, can cause tachyphylaxis and therefore the reduced efficacy of the drug. The abuse of nasal vasoconstrictors can induce prolonged changes in the mucosa that can result in medicamentous atrophic rhinitis. Children are more sensitive to the systemic effects of sympathomimetic vasoconstrictors. The container of this medicine consists of latex rubber. It can cause severe allergic reactions. Before taking Nasomixin cm consult your doctor:

• if you suffer from hypertension;
• if you have heart disease, including arrhythmias;
• if you have thyroid problems;
• if you have diabetes mellitus;
• if you have glaucoma (high intraocular pressure);
• if you suffer from prostatic hypertrophy.

It is advisable to consult your doctor even if these disorders have occurred in the past. The medicine contains benzalkonium chloride, which can cause bronchospasm.

Expiry and retention

Check the expiration date indicated on the package. The expiry date indicated on the package refers to the product in intact packaging, correctly stored. Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Use the product within 30 days of first opening the bottle, the excess product must be discarded.
