PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC CATEGORY
Antimicrobial and antiseptic.
INDICATIONS
Fungal vulvo-vaginal infections (pure or mixed) and gram-positive (primary or secondary) bacteria.
CONTRAINDICATIONS / SECONDARY EFFECT
Hypersensitivity to one of the components of the product.
DOSAGE
MICOTEF 100 mg vaginal suppositories. Introduce 1 egg into the vagina in the morning and 1 in the evening before going to bed, or according to medical judgment. The treatment must be continued for at least 15 days. Simultaneous treatment of the partner with antifungal dermatological ointment is recommended. MICOTEF 2% vaginal cream. Introduce the contents of the applicator deeply into the vagina (about 5 g of ointment) once a day, preferably in the evening before going to bed. Treatment should be continued for at least 10-15 days, even after the pruritus and leucorrhoea have disappeared. MICOTEF 400 mg vaginal capsules. Introduce a capsule into the vagina, in the morning or in the evening before going to bed, or according to medical judgment. The treatment must be continued for at least 4 days; if necessary, repeat the therapeutic cycle. Simultaneous treatment of the partner with antifungal dermatological ointment is recommended.
WARNINGS
Preparations for topical use, especially if used for prolonged treatments, can give rise to sensitization phenomena. In these cases it is necessary to interrupt the treatment and institute a suitable therapy.
INTERACTIONS
Miconazole, administered systemically, can increase the anticoagulant effect of coumarin drugs: therefore, in the case of simultaneous use of MICOTEF and coumarin drugs, it is necessary to accurately determine the anticoagulant effect of the latter, in order to possibly reduce the dose of coumarin.
SIDE EFFECTS
Some complaints have been reported such as vaginal burning and irritation, redness and itching, pelvic cramps and more rarely, headache and skin rashes. In these cases it is necessary to interrupt the treatment and institute a suitable therapy.
PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING
In pregnant and lactating women, the product should be administered in cases of real need, under the direct control of the doctor.
