Lactoferrin a is a glycoprotein of the transferrin family characterized by two lobes similar to each other, each with a site capable of reversibly binding a ferric ion. This gives it a high iron complexing capacity. All this causes lactoferrin administered orally to increase not only the blood concentration of hemoglobin, but also the serum concentration of red blood cells. For its strong antibacterial action, the inhibition of pathogenic microorganisms, the anti-inflammatory action, lactoferrin is considered a good therapeutic method for acne.
Main activities: high ability to bind iron in a reversible way (300 times higher than other transferrin). High antimicrobial and defense action on mucous surfaces.
Therapeutic use: iron deficiency, acne.
How to use (iron deficiency): lactoferrin is indicated for a physiological improvement of iron metabolism in cases of deficiency and due to poor nutrition or increased needs (pregnancy). Take two capsules a day in the morning and in the evening between meals.
How to use (acne): lactoferrin is indicated alongside hormonal or topical therapy in mild or medium forms of acne. Take two capsules a day in the morning and in the evening between meals.
Warnings: the preparation is well tolerated at a dose of 200 mg per day. In pregnant women, no side effects related to iron intake (nausea, etc.) were found. Lactoferrin is contraindicated in cases of milk intolerance.
