Contour Next 50 Test Strips For Blood Glucose Monitoring

Contour Next test strips have been developed on the basis of a recent technology (the sensor electrode). They use a small amount of blood (0.6 μL) which is automatically aspirated by capillarity into the reactive end of the strip: after a 5-second countdown, the glucose concentration present in the blood sample automatically appears on the display.

Glucose in the blood sample reacts with the FAD glucose dehydrogenase (FAD-GDH) enzyme and mediator, generating an electron flow that produces a current proportional to the glucose concentration in the sample.

Contour Next strips allow the determination of glucose in both capillary whole blood and venous blood. The results obtained are comparable with the methods of analysis that use plasma / serum and are not significantly influenced by hematocrit (in the range 0-70%). Reducing substances normally present in the blood (uric acid, bilirubin) or deriving from pharmacological treatments (ascorbic acid, paracetamol) do not significantly affect the results.
