BGStar test strips are a product used to measure and determine the value of glucose in the blood and to ensure better control of the pathology of diabetes.
Indications
BGStar test strips are indicated for those diabetic subjects who want to know the glucose value in fresh whole blood with a daily self-check procedure. In this way, some of the symptoms of an alteration in blood sugar can be recognized in advance. These strips are compatible with the BSGStar or iBSGStar blood glucose meter, the most effective and simple to use monitoring system due to its simplicity of functions.
Features
The BGStar test strip consists of three different parts:
Reactive Area : it is an end that must be inserted upwards when the strip is inserted inside the glucometer;
Visual indicator : which lights up red to indicate that the quantity of blood inserted is the right one, blue if the quantity of the control liquid is correct;
Sampling area : it is the part of the test strip that is inserted inside the measuring instrument.
Each strip has an area sufficient to contain a fresh capillary blood sample equal to 0.5 µl. The blood can be taken with the lancets in two ways: the classic one, from the fingertip, and the AST one, ie sampling from the palm of the hands, arm and forearm, calf and thigh.
How is blood sugar measured?
To measure your blood glucose correctly, it is necessary to perform the test steps accurately and meticulously.
Insert the BGStar test strip into the meter;
Wait for the blood drop symbol to appear on the display;
Now you can start the blood glucose test;
Approach the drop of blood obtained with the lancing device on the sampling area of the strip, taking care not to let the blood leak out and without dirtying the other parts of the strip;
When the red indicator appears, the amount of blood is sufficient for the analysis otherwise it will be necessary to deposit more blood;
Wait for the meter to beep to remove the test strip;
Wait for the results to appear on the display.
When is blood glucose measured?
In self-monitoring of blood glucose it is necessary to know when to measure blood glucose. Diabetic experts recommend performing a blood glucose analysis test 1 to 4 times a day and at different times of the day. In particular:
before the meal;
2 hours after the time of the meal;
The evening;
Before getting insulin;
When you experience the symptoms of high blood sugar.
Why is it important to measure blood sugar on a regular basis?
Regularly measuring blood glucose values with an analysis test is necessary so that the diabetic patient can keep their pathology under control and can detect in time if there are symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) or high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) thus removing the possibility that he could go into a diabetic coma.
